Day of the Dead. This 2021 we have prepared this premiere, of the Day of the Dead in Michoacán, representing the festival that is lived in this beautiful state of México.
The show incorporates the tradition of the Day of the Dead within the mystical traditions of the altars placed in homes and holy lands, the vigils and the celebrations surrounding this vital holiday in the life of the local inhabitants of Michoacán.
We will have traditional dances that are a testimony of the local culture, including the butterflies’ dance that arrive year after year to this region to spend the winter.
The dancers will present colorful costumes and makeup alluding to this tradition, some dances will have a tone of comedy and drama, including texts from "calaveritas", parodying Mexican culture and society of all time. Part of the event will include dancers dressed as “catrinas” and skeletons while representing the festive dances of this locality.

Christmas in México. During 18 consecutive years México 2000 Ballet Folklórico under the direction of Mary and Alex Palencia will be presenting the play "Christmas in México” or “Navidad en México” a Pastorela-Dance.
This choreographic montage, with more than 100 participants, is a representation of the birth of Jesus Christ filled with a message of love.
The symbolism of the Nativity will be represented in several episodes, including many traditional dance numbers like: the annunciation, the hermit, journey of Mary to Bethlehem, the devil and the angel with the shepherds, offerings, the little drummer boy, traditional Christmas songs and dances, the piñata, the three wise men, and joy to the world!.
During the December cold days we cannot help paying attention to the dynamics observed throughout Mexico and see people’s enthusiasm and diligence by performing tasks in common: choose, create or buy a special gift, this practice of giving goes back more than two thousand years, time in which humanity received a demonstration of the existence of agape love, materialized through the birth of Jesus, to fulfill the prophecy of the old testament: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). This baby was born in the village of Bethlehem, a humble place, where he received three gifts of wise men, which established a new tradition, a wonderful occasion at the origin of giving.
México 2000 Ballet Folklórico offers this gift to those who like dance and music remembering the events around Christmas, wishing to the community that the birth of love bear fruits of joy, peace, harmony and hope in their hearts.
Mexico 2000 Ballet Folklórico welcomes your donations to help preserve and promote the Mexican heritage of dance and music in the U.S. You can help by contributing for dance shoes, skirts, props, costumes, accesories, theater rental, etc.
